About Maryann and WayneBoth of us have grown up around construction. From carpentry to welding, electricity to locks, our relatives have always had their hands on tools. Through much of our married life, we were both employed at other companies. Wayne has always had an entrepreneurial side, having had side businesses (in addition to his employment) for many years. In 2002, we decided to open Around the House and have been working together ever since. Maryann was involved with the local Girl Scouts while our daughter was of appropriate age and still continues to lend a hand from time to time. She is an avid quilter and is a member of the Chelmsford Quilter's Guild. Wayne rides his motorcycle throughout New England (and beyond), sometimes meeting up with other members of the (Kawasaki) Concours Owner's Group. He is very proud that he earned his Eagle Scout badge as a member of the Boy Scouts of America. We both have our SCUBA diving certification, but have found it difficult to find the time to "blow bubbles" in recent years as the warmer weather (i.e., diving season) coincides with our busier work season. Making matters worse is our interest in baseball and the number of Red Sox games we try to get to at Fenway Park, our season tickets to the Lowell Spinners (short-season class A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox), and trying to get to see as many other ballparks (major and minor, affiliated and independent) that we can. About Our Employees and SubcontractorsAlthough we do most of the work ourselves, we do bring in help from time to time. Although Wayne has his Massachusetts Construction Supervisor's license, he is not a licensed electrician nor a licensed plumber and we are not insured for roofing work. For these types of tasks, we will bring in other contractors whom we have worked with in the past. If the job is large enough, we might bring along one or more of the people we employ on a part-time basis. Painting is a perfect example of this sort of job. It scales very easily to a larger crew. Regardless of who is doing the work, at least one of us will be "on the job" at all times. Various Licenses and Registrations
